The pelvic floor is not a women-only subject. In men it controls continence of urine and stool, supports sexual function and stabilises the pelvis - and its dysfunction most often surfaces after urological procedures, particularly prostatectomy.
Pelvic floor training started before surgery and continued afterwards shortens the time it takes to regain full continence. It is one of the few things a patient can do for himself while still waiting for the procedure.
Therapy also covers urgency and overactive bladder - symptoms that very often come not from weakness but from excessive pelvic floor tension. That distinction shows up in the functional examination and decides everything that follows, because one calls for training and the other for learning to release.
